Hello and welcome to Smith’s Winery. My name is Dave Smith and I am the owner-operator of Smith’s Winery. Our history really started as my hobby. In the late 80’s, France had started to buy the German and Hungarian vineyards and so they stopped making the semi-sweet and semi-dry wines they were famous for, the same wines I cherished. So I said to myself I would create my own. Finally, after 27 years of experimenting and tweaking my art I decided to open up Smith’s Winery in 2005. We are the first black owned winery in the state of Indiana. My particular niche is buying juice from various vineyards around the world and fermenting their juice the way I like, which is coming as close as I can to the European styles that I was buying, semi-sweet semi-dry wines for others to enjoy! Our mission is for as many as possible to "Taste Something a Little Different", so I started to go to people’s homes with my product, now I do various Farmer's Markets and Wine Festivals. My wife helps me at my tastings and we enjoy meeting people. We appreciate hearing from our customers and we would like to share some of those comments with you. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Dave, just wanted to say it was a pleasure seeing you again this year at the IBTA Classic gathering. I do plan to get on site and do some ordering and I look forward to enjoying the babies I brought home. I do enjoy the fact that I am able to buy these great wines from someone who is so knowledgeable about taste, aroma, concentration of alcohol and stages as to how all these things not only come together as they can, but what these vintages go together with. Most people who sell wine can only tell you the color as if you can see that but whether its a dry or sweet. You go into much further detail which I can tell you've done your homework and this not just selling wine but its an art!

Hey Dave,
I've been to the Farmer's Market here in Columbus, IN on several occasions and have purchased several of your wines. My wife and I really have enjoyed your wines. We certainly like the way you have prepared your wines to give the fruit taste before the alcohol taste. Well, I purchased some Cabernet Sauvignon from you a couple of weeks ago. My wife had just started teaching school and on Friday evening I had prepared a special meal for her to celebrate the end of the first week. I prepared beef stroganoff, noodles, and steamed broccoli with cherry pie for dessert. I had intended to serve a Merlot with the meal. However, just as I am finishing the preparation I discovered that I had not checked out our wine rack first. All I had was your Cabernet Sauvignon. Realizing that it was too late to run anywhere to get some Merlot, we decided to go ahead and try the Cabernet Sauvignon with the beef. To our very pleasent surprise it went very well with the entire meal!!! It was not to sweet!! So, we just wanted to let you know how well this combination worked, and we wanted to thank you for doing such a wonderful job of preparing your wines.

I uncorked the RHAZZ yesterday and I can only think of one thing to say, "You better keep making this one too!" A wonderfully delicate flavor, a tangy and zesty aroma and taste and a very clean, smooth finish. Oh, and its down-right yummy too!! Excellent! I'll be saving my retirement checks to get more of this one. Keep up the great job. It is evident its a labor of love! U R Da (Wine) Man!

Hope all is going well with you and the family. I would like to tell you that my friends and I are really enjoying your wonderful wine. I especially like the new wine, Ice, it's smooth and just wonderful as a after dinner treat. As you already know. I love the Peach, Chardonnay, and the Merlot. I drink my wine with dinner or with my snacks, you know, cheese, crackers, fish, caviar, etc... Everything within moderation (smiles). I enjoy my meals and my wine as I continue to lose weight. ( I've lost 55 pds) All while still having a glass of good wine when it pleases me. All I can say is your wine is great and I enjoy it immensely. Have a wonderful week and keep making that WINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
